Vincentian formation in Bolivia and Peru by CGI’s Spiritual Advisor

Father Andrés Motto will spend almost a whole month giving presentation

From November 27 th to December 22 nd , the Spiritual Advisor to the Council General International, Father Andrés Motto (Congregation of the Mission), will give several lectures on Vincentian formation in
Bolivia and Peru.

The invitation was formulated by Brother Julio Cesar Marques de Lima, International Territorial Vice-president – America 3 (South America) and Sister Renata Mancini, Territorial Formation delegate.

Bolivia
The first part of the course will take place in Cochabamba, between November 27th and December 3rd. The themes covered: “The Role of the Spiritual Advisor”, “Saint Vincent and Prayer”, “Bioethics” and “The path of virtue: how can we become Vincentian”.
Afterwards, Father Motto will travel to Beni and, between December 4 th and 6 th , he will present the themes “Social Morale and “Human Rights”. On December 7 th and 8th, Father Andrés Motto will be in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, giving a talk on “The economy, through Saint Vincent de Paul”.
Finally, La Paz will host Father Motto on December 9 th , 10 th and 11 th , when he will speak on “The role of the Christian in the Church and its challenges”.

Peru
On December 12 th , Father Motto will be in Lima (capital of Peru) for a few days. The following lectures will be given: “Vincentian Christology”, “Saint Vincent de Paul and Prayer”, “Vincentian Mission”, “Vincentian Economy” and “Vincentian Prudence”.
On December 18 th and 19 th , the city of Pisco will host the formation courses by Father Motto, in which the following topics will be discussed: “The Identity of the SSVP”, “Our Leadership”, and “Social Morale”. Finally, on December 21 st and 22 nd, the city of Chiclayo will have the joy of receiving the International Spiritual Advisor who will discuss three themes: “The Identity of SSVP”, “Our Leadership” and “Saint Vincent and the Laity”.

Profile

Andrés Román María Motto was born in Luján, Argentina. He is Doctor in Morale Theology and graduated in Philosophy. He has been a director and professor in many teaching institutions. He is the author of 10 books. He currently holds the position of Director of the International Formation Center (CIF) in Paris. Since January 2019, he is the International Spiritual Advisor of the SSVP. He has a deep knowledge of Ozanam and is a great supporter of the Vincentian Family.

Other information

All the brothers and sisters of SSVP in Bolivia and Peru are invited the lectures as well as the representatives of the Vincentian Family. Those interested should verify the locations of the presentations with their host national councils.

Please be advised that the above formation program is dynamic and there could be some changes along the way. In addition to the lectures, when possible, Father Andrés Motto will meet with Vincentian leadership, visit SSVP works and conferences, maintain contacts with local clerical authorities and participate in other events.

The Council General thanks the National Council of Peru and the National Council of Bolivia for welcoming Father Motto with such affection and for collaborating in the logistics in the organization of trip and the sharing of the expenses.
From the topics that will be taught, it is already clear that the courses will be very enriching. All Vincentians will be able to benefit from the knowledge of our beloved Father Motto, living the contents of the lectures in their dealings with the poor and in their relationships with brothers and sisters.
