The President General will represent the SSVP, and will carry out a parallel institutional agenda.
The annual meeting of the Vincentian Family Executive Committee (VFEC), chaired by Father Tomaz Mavric, Superior General of the Congregation of the Mission (CM), begins today (November 7) and takes place until next Friday, November 11.
The event takes place at the Mary Immaculate House, with the presence of the main Vincentian branches. Representing the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP) will be the 16 th President General, brother Renato Lima de Oliveira, accompanied by brother Ricardo Tavares, International Coordinator of the Vincentian Family Department at the Council General.
Several topics are on the agenda, amongst them: evaluation of the work of the existing Vincentian commissions and task forces, discussion on the 2023 budget, analysis of the projects on homelessness, Vincentian action with the refugees in Ukraine and the organization of the 2 nd International Meeting of the Vincentian Family Leaders. Holy Masses will be celebrated every day, and on Wednesday there will be the traditional Papal audience.
In addition to the Vincentian Family gathering, the President General will have a busy parallel agenda at the Vatican, focusing on the canonization of Antoine-Frédéric Ozanam. There will be visits to dicasteries, congregations and pontifical councils with which the SSVP has institutional relations, as well as interviews with the Catholic press and audiences with ambassadors and clerics. President Lima de Oliveira will visit the St. Peter’s Conference and intend to meet with representatives of the Order of Malta.
For these institutional meetings, brother Renato will be accompanied by three Vice-presidents of the Council General: Sebastián Gramajo, Antonio Gianfico and Juan Manuel Buergo Gómez. We ask for your prayers for the success of all these activities in the Eternal City.
