Under the slogan “The joy of being a Vincentian”, the International Vincentian Family will hold the International Vincentian Youth meeting (IVY-2019) from 18 to 21 January 2019, at the “San José de Malambo” Home, in Panama City.

Around 300 young Vincentians from 35 countries around the world have already signed up to take part in the event, from all the various Branches, including the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul with 85 young people.

The aim is to hold a training, spirituality and integration gathering. The event is also intended to prepare the young people for the World Youth Days (WYD 2019) which take place straight after, from 22 to 28 January, attended by Pope Francis.

IVY-2019 is being prepared by a committee, including our fellow member Willian Alves, representing the International Council General. As well as Willian, other regional youth delegates will attend the meeting: Edgardo Fuentes (America 2), Josmary Palencia (America 3), Joseph Bege (Africa 1), Boipelo Mathodlana (Africa 2), Leo Levin (Asia 1) and Luke Brouwer (Oceania).

God willing, our 16th President General, Renato Lima will also attend the Vincentian meeting. “I joined SSVP when I was only 15 years old, and since then I have been actively involved in Vincentian work. I know it was the best decision I ever made: to serve my brothers and sisters in need, and seek our personal holiness. I am very keen to join you all, dear young people, in Panama, in a few days”, says Renato Lima.

“On behalf of Council General, we wish to thank all the National and Superior Councils who are providing support for their young people to attend. May they all experience every moment of the event intensely, and return to their countries and their Conferences strengthened for being part of this joy of being Vincentian, and to infect the world with it”, said our youth representative, Willian Alves.

The Meeting will be filled with celebration, catechesis, discussion groups, workshops, a cultural festival, Marian vigil and liturgies. For more details on IVY-2019, click here: www.famvin.org. Information: ejv2019@gmail.com. We ask you all to pray for the success of both events.
