The SSVP conveys its solidarity with Colombia following the earthquake
The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP) expresses its deep closeness and solidarity with the people of Colombia following the earthquake that struck the country today, particularly affecting the Valle del Cauca, the Eje Cafetero, and Choco.
The General Council of the International Confederation of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul remains in contact with the Presidents of the Conferences and Councils in Colombia in order to learn firsthand about the situation of our brothers and sisters and the communities most severely affected.
At this time, there are no reported fatalities among members of the Vincentian Family (FAMVIN), although there has been significant material damage.
The General Council places itself at the disposal of the National Council to provide assistance in whatever way may be possible.
We ask the entire Vincentian Family to unite in prayer for those who have lost their lives, their families, and all those working in emergency response efforts, trusting that solidarity and hope will help Colombia face these difficult times.
