The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Participates in the Festival della Terra 2025

Naples – June 6, 2025.

At the former NATO base in Bagnoli (Naples), a new edition of the Festival della Terra took place, a gathering dedicated to reflecting on the common good, sustainability, and intergenerational responsibility. Among the notable participants was Antonio Gianfico, International General Secretary of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP), who spoke at the Hope Talks space, a platform for prominent voices committed to change.

The SSVP’s participation in this forum highlights the deep connection between Christian spirituality and the ecological dimension. As an international Catholic organization, with an active presence in over 150 countries, the Society considers that respect for nature and care for vulnerable people are part of the same global need. This vision is reflected in its adherence to the Global Catholic Climate Movement (Laudato Si’ Movement), promoting an integral ecology of social justice and environmental sustainability.

During the event, Gianfico received a commemorative plaque in recognition of the SSVP’s commitment to safeguarding the planet and defending the common good, as a symbol of hope for future generations. This tribute highlighted the role of faith communities in building a more human development model, where the dignity of all people — especially those living in poverty — is at the center of any ecological transformation.

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul’s presence at the Festival della Terra reaffirms its commitment to being an active part of global change processes and integrating care for Creation into its social action for the most needy.
