Council General International

Three weeks ago, from 2nd of February to 14th of March, Brother Renato Lima de Oliveira, the 16th President General of the SSVP, has visited seven countries in Africa where the SSVP is present, namely: Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Central African Republic, Zambia, Mozambique, Botswana and South Africa. He has been welcomed warmly, with excitement and tenderness, by all African members, visiting local Conferences and seeing their works. Also, Bro. Renato has been welcomed by the Prime Minister as well as the Presidents of the Republic of Burkina and Central African Republic.

Bro. Renato also attended meetings with the National Council. Likewise, he participated in Radio and TV programs in Africa. He had courtesy call with the different leaders of the different Ecclesiastical territories and dioceses.

The outstanding characteristics of the Vincentian members in Africa are their strong faith and belief, their commitment in the service and their creativity and passion in the mission because even with little resources, they have the ability to find and use available resources to achieve their goals in the service; Indeed, “Charity is infinitely inventive.”

After this visit, Bro. Renato said “I am able to understand more the challenges of Africa so we will be ready to help them more efficiently”.

More details of this trip will be included in the Ozanam Network and will be posted in the www.ssvpglobal.org
