The Holy Father supports the FHA “13 Houses Campaign” on the IX World Day of the Poor

Church Vincentian Family

The Vincentian Family wished to celebrate the 2025 Jubilee of Hope alongside some of those who need it most: people experiencing homelessness. This shared vision gave life to the “13 Houses Campaign.”

On the World Day of the Poor, last 16 November and coinciding with the 400th anniversary of the Congregation of the Mission, the Holy Father Leo XIV presented 13 symbolic keys to 13 beneficiary families from different countries around the world. These keys, 30 cm long and sculpted by Canadian artist Timothy Schmalz, symbolise the opening to a dignified future. They represent more than 130 projects in 79 countries, with 2,786 homes built and more than 11,030 people supported since 2018.

The ceremony was presented by the Superior of the Congregation of the Mission, Father Tomas Mavric CM, and all the Branches of FAMVIN were represented. Representing the SSVP, our brother Pat Garcia from Australia attended together with the President General.

This project has a shared goal: to offer not only a roof, but also a new future.

This initiative goes beyond simply building houses; it is about building communities and opening pathways of hope.

After the Angelus, offered by FAMVIN with the collaboration of several entities including the Italian SSVP, the Pope shared a meal with 1,300 people experiencing poverty in the Paul VI Hall.

May this video be a source of inspiration for everyone who shares the Vincentian dream of a more just and fraternal world.
