The CGI Takes Part in Vincentian Family’s Executive Meeting

Council General International

Homelessness and pandemic were the pivotal topics of the meeting

On April 22, the Vincentian Family Executive Committee (VFEC) held a new Committee meeting, the second of the year, attended by the main branches making up the International Vincentian Family.

On behalf of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP), were fellow members Renato Lima de Oliveira (16th President General) and Ricardo Tavares (International Coordinator of the Vincentian Family). The meeting was chaired by Father Tomaz Mavric, Superior General of the Congregation of the Mission, and by Father Joe Agostino, acting as secretary, also from the Congregation of the Mission.

The “Memorandum of Understanding” between the Vincentian Family and DePaul International was approved at the meeting with a view to developing the “13 Houses Campaign” (homelessness). Furthermore, the possibility of liaising with different Vincentian branches was discussed to better address the Covid-19 pandemic. Another item discussed was fundraising alternatives for the Vincentian Family.

The forthcoming VFEC meeting will be held in August. A virtual training session on Vincentian leadership for international Vincentian leaders will be held next September. “Let us pray for the success of the Vincentian Family, especially in these times of pandemic, when the poor are even more vulnerable, in need of a helping hand of charity”, stressed brother Ricardo Tavares. More information on the Vincentian Family (news, formation, videos etc.) on www.famvin.org.
