Testimony of Wendy Fuentes on the 2nd Vincentian Gathering
The 2nd International Gathering of the Vincentian Family brought together people from all continents in Rome from November 14 to 17, 2024, with the purpose of strengthening their vocation of service and renewing the fervor of their commitment to the poorest. Under the theme “Keeping the fire burning to be pilgrims of hope”, the event served as a space for reflection, communion, and action.
Wendy Fuentes, a representative of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Honduras, shared her experience of this meaningful event. In her words, the gathering was a deeply enriching experience that allowed her to meet and connect with brothers and sisters from different cultures and realities, all united by the same charism of service.
Wendy Fuentes highlighted the richness of the shared experience at this gathering and the importance of strengthening communion in service. Reflection, prayer, and collective action reinforce the certainty that the mission of St. Vincent de Paul remains relevant and essential in today’s world.
Here is her testimony:
The final document of this gathering reflects the main reflections and commitments that emerged during these days of encounter. It encourages us to live our vocation with passion, to become visible witnesses of hope, and to promote innovative initiatives that respond to the concrete needs of the most vulnerable. It is an invitation to unity and active commitment, reminding us that our strength lies in service and shared fraternity.
We hope this testimony will inspire all branches of the Vincentian Family and that the fire of service and hope will continue to burn in the heart of every member.
