St. Vincent a source of inspiration
Today is the liturgical memorial of Saint Vincent de Paul, which marks the date of his death, September 27, 1660.
Vincent was born in Pouy, France, on April 24, 1581. He became a priest at the age of 19 because he wanted to help his family. He then had a personal encounter with Christ present in the people who were victims of social ills and began to dedicate himself entirely to the poor
He founded the Congregation of the Mission (Lazarist priests) and the Company of the Daughters of Charity (Vincentian Sisters).
He was canonized on June 16, 1737, by Pope Clement XII and, on May 12, 1885, declared patron of all works of charity in the Catholic Church by Leo XIII.
