World News

The National Council of the United States, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, will host its annual National Assembly, August 30 – September 3, 2022 at the Marriott Baltimore Waterfront in Baltimore, Maryland. More than 700 Vincentian volunteers and leaders from across the country are expected to gather together to celebrate their common values of spirituality, friendship, and service.

The agenda is filled with opportunities to learn from Vincentians across the country about their work serving neighbors in need in their local communities, as well as unite in friendship and their Catholic faith.

“The theme of this year’s National Assembly is Come to the Water,” says National CEO Dave Barringer. “We invite our Vincentian brothers and sisters from across the country to join us in Baltimore, home to the oldest Catholic diocese in the country, to celebrate our faith and friendship with one another.”

Our 16th International President General, Brother Renato Lima de Oliveira, has confirmed his presence at the event, and will give a talk entitled ” Suitable Qualities for Vincentian Service”.

In addition to the National Assembly’s usual rotation of panels, workshops, and spiritual gatherings, this year’s agenda also features optional tours of some of St. Vincent de Paul Baltimore’s special works, including their Head Start Program, Sarah’s Hope Family Shelter, as well as their hunger services operations at Good Harvest Community Kitchen and Beans & Bread Center.

Tours of religious sites, including the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Mary’s Seminary, the St. Jude Shrine, and a pilgrimage to the Elizabeth Ann Seton Shrine will also be available.

With nearly 90,000 members, the SSVP in USA is serving in more than 4,400 parishes across the country. The National Council of the United States is headquartered in Maryland Heights, MO.
