Rosa María Araujo, new National President of the SSVP in El Salvador

Council General International

Rosa María Araujo has been elected as the new National President of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul in El Salvador for a four-year term.

A member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Conference, Rosa María Araujo carries out her Vincentian service particularly through accompanying older people and supporting the work of the Home for the Elderly.

Among the main priorities she has set for this new term are following up on the legal matters related to the Home for the Elderly, strengthening the existing Conferences and establishing new Conferences, with particular emphasis on encouraging the participation of young people and children. She will also promote formation and the dissemination of the legacy of Blessed Frédéric Ozanam throughout the country, working in coordination with the Board of Directors, the America 2 Region and the Council General International.

As she assumes this new responsibility, Rosa María Araujo has placed her mission under the protection of God and Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, entrusting this new period of service to accompanying the most vulnerable people and strengthening the Vincentian presence in El Salvador.

The Conferences were established in El Salvador in 1985, and the capital currently has three Conferences.

The Council General International congratulates Rosa María on her election and expresses its full willingness to work closely with her in the implementation of her presidential programme.
