Our Most Heartfelt Condolences on the Passing of our Brother Poli Kefu

He was the National Youth Coordinator in Tonga
The Council General International (CGI) of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SSVP) expresses its deepest condolences to the family and friends of our dear fellow member Polikalepo Kefu (fondly known as Poli), who passed away on May 1st in Tonga.
Poli Kefu actively took part in several social rights organizations in Oceania. Member of the Red Cross in Tonga, he also participated at UN human rights councils. In other words, he was a Vincentian fellow member, as well as an advocate for human and social rights.
Moreover, being a very active member, he acted as the National Youth Coordinator at the SSVP’s Superior Council of Tonga. He attended the panel discussions and training sessions organised by the Territorial Vice Presidency of Oceania in Brisbane (2019).
In the words of brother Luke Brouwer, Territorial Youth Delegate for Oceania, Poli Kefu was a kind, loving and courageous Vincentian, an advocate for the rights of the poorest.
Upon hearing this sad news, the President General, fellow member Renato Lima de Oliveira, asks Vincentians around the world to unite in prayer for the soul of brother Poli Kefu.
“Poli’s Vincentian virtues are inspiring for young Vincentians around the world so that they may continue to bear witness to holiness, by being kind, caring and courageous, always advocating for the rights of the neediest,” said President Lima de Oliveira.
The CGI kindly requests all the members to pray the Lord’s Prayer for the soul of Poli Kefu. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
