The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SSVP) in Botswana has a new national president: fellow member Itumeleng K. Nwako, who has been elected for a first three-year term, from October 2025 to October 2028. The election assembly was held on October 25, 2025.

Itumeleng K. Nwako has been a member of the SSVP since 1998, when she joined in Francistown. She is currently part of the St. Anthony Conference in Palapye, where she has served as president since 2022. In her Vincentian career, she has held key positions in the Superior Council, such as treasurer (2024-present), secretary general (2023-2024), and vice president (2022-2023). Previously, she served as treasurer (2004-2010) and secretary (1998-2004) in the Our Lady of the Desert Conference.

Professionally, Nwako is a banker with more than 30 years of experience, having held positions such as country manager, and holds a Master’s in Business Administration. Her work in the SSVP has focused on helping children, the elderly, and vulnerable communities with food, clothing, and essential support in various regions of Botswana.

This election represents a new chapter for the SSVP in Botswana, strengthening its commitment to those most in need under the leadership of an experienced and dedicated Vincentian.
