INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER DAY “Together it’s possible…”

Publications

On December 5, we celebrate “International Volunteer Day”, an important date established by the United Nations (UN) in 1985.

By creating this day, the United Nations aims to promote volunteer actions across the globe. This year’s theme is: “Together We Can Through Volunteering.”

A volunteer is someone who dedicates part of his/her time, resources, and energy to activities that promote social well-being, without receiving any payment. All of us, active members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, are true volunteers!

Volunteering not only improves the lives of those benefiting from social actions in the community but also enriches those who carry them out. Volunteers can learn new things, make friends, build networks, and develop valuable skills and competencies.

The Council General International (CGI) of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul congratulates all Vincentian members in the 155 countries where our Confederation is present on this “International Volunteer Day” for their dedication, effort, care, and charity in serving the most vulnerable through our Conferences.

Living the experience of volunteering is unique, providing us with new opportunities every day. Being a volunteer dignifies the soul! Long live volunteering! Long live the Vincentians brothers and sisters of our beloved SSVP!
