A Vincentian group is representing our own charism at the first festival
The first Festival of the Christian Songl took place In the wonderful city of Sanremo, from 3rd to 5th February. Among the participants was the Vincentian group Serviens in Spe, formed of Davide Rossi, president of a Conference belonging to the Milan Central Council, musician and composer, and the opera singer Carmela Iacono.
They performed the song The Vincentian Prayer, from the album “Ho smesser di esser solo” (I am no longer alone), on the Rusty Records website, on sale from February.
The official communications channel for the Festival was Vatican Radio – Vatican News; and the event, sponsored both by the city council and the Diocese of Ventimiglia-Sanremo, was broadcast by the national television channel Padre Pío Tv, by TivùSat and by Sky; as well as being streamed globally on www.teleradiopadrepio.it.
In the words of Silvana Tondi, president of Milan Central Council, “Acceptance of this song for the festival was for us a sign of the value given to our charism, which addresses all forms of poverty found in today’s world; and also shows how everyone can give expression to their service to God, in Davide’s case through his membership of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, and through his music.”
