The International General Council is going in depth in the study of the origin of the SSVP and in the history of each of the founders of the first Conference.
The objective of this study is to better understand the circumstances and motivations that led the group of young people to the foundation and subsequent development of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, as well as to assess the fundamental role that each of them had in the emergence of the Conferences.
We present to you some links in order to show you the way to begin this exciting journey to the history of an institution that, founded by this small group of students of the Sorbonne, Paris, at the beginning of the nineteenth century, has become an international “Charity Network”, established in more than 153 countries around the world, helping more than 30 million people suffering from poverty.
