Distribution of Bio-Sanitary Material and Cleaning and Disinfection for Households

World News

Ecuador’s National Council has received support from the Covid-19 Emergency Fund, launched by the Commission for International Aid and Development (CIAD) of the SSVP’s Council General International.

This initial aid of €5,000 has enabled to undertake an emergency social project for COVID-19, aimed at obtaining and distributing bio-sanitary material to avoid contagion. The total number of beneficiaries has amounted to over a hundred families in need, served by nine conferences in the country.

Essential health supplies (masks and gloves, goggles, alcohol disinfectant, soap and chlorine) were delivered. Furthermore, backpack-type hand pumps, quaternary ammonium and protective suits were provided for fumigating and disinfecting households. Vincentians visited needy families and delivered these supplies door to door, while keeping their homes clean and free from virus.

One of the conferences, specifically the one in Santa Ana in the Cuenca region, contributed to supporting the SSVP’s Children’s Home ‘Tadeo Torres’, which is caring for 30 orphaned or at-risk children.

In this fight against the pandemic while supporting the most vulnerable families, we have liaised with other social institutions and parishes, which have strongly backed the work of Vincentians in Ecuador.
