Covid19 Urgent Appeal for Emergency Fund

Council General International

Together, we can defeat it

The Society of St Vincent de Paul is fighting the coronavirus epidemic throughout the world. In the most vulnerable countries the battle is especially fierce. Our fellow members are facing Covid19 with only rudimentary healthcare and without basic medical equipment.

The Council General International is endeavouring to respond to the flood of requests for urgent assistance from the SSVP in these under resourced countries struggling to cope with the effects of the virus on poor communities. Our members and volunteers are in need of personal protective equipment (PPE): face masks, gloves, gowns, hygiene items… And this need is pressing…

Furthermore, this health crisis has also triggered a food crisis; in other words, hunger. With an increasing number of confirmed cases every day, many countries are asking us to help them by providing essential food commodities since they are running low on supplies.

In this time of crisis, CGIs Fund for International Solidarity (FIS) needs your help more than ever to respond to these urgent requests. FISs funds are practically exhausted and we call on Councils to kindly make donations so that we can continue to support our fellow members and volunteers in their service. Donations to FIS are needed now more than ever before. Any assistance you can give will be of great value.

Once again, let us show that our love goes beyond borders and that “the entire Society is a true and unique worldwide Community of Vincentian friends” (art.3.3 SSVP Rule) by providing a strong, united response to this global crisis.

On behalf of the Council General, we would like to thank for your support and generosity. With God’s help, ‘Together, we can defeat it’.

Fraternally,

Renato Lima de Oliveira

16th President General
