Several America 1 Councils To Have Assistance in Feeding the Hungry
On March 26 a Zoom meeting was held with several America 1 Vincentians and representatives from the Mary Dinah Foundation (the foundation). The foundation, based in Nigeria, has a mission of achieving Zero Hunger and reducing the morbidities and mortalities caused by malnutrition globally.
Representing America 1 were ITVP Michael Nizankiewicz, and Zone Coordinators Mary-Rose Knight and Frank Vohel. Mary Dinah, the President of the Mary Dinah Foundation and Peter Ameh represented the foundation.
Through initial contact with the CGI office, the foundation noted that they were interesting in helping two islands in the Caribbean, specifically The Bahamas and Antigua. It was fortunate that Shurn Brown Sawyer, the President of the Council of The Bahamas, was also on the call.
The objective will be to initially focus on formula meals and is targeting a distribution in the December to January timeframe. The two councils will each provide a Vincentian who will work directly with the foundation in the distribution of the meals.
