CGI’s Board Meeting

On December 4th-5th, the Board meeting is being held in Lyon (France) to celebrate its first on-site gathering since February 2020.
These quarterly meetings have been virtual for over a year and a half due to the pandemic. Fortunately, the situation has improved in many countries, arising from compliance with COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. Hence, Board members can once again meet in person and have friendly discussions on the CGI’s key subjects. This will be a hybrid meeting to allow those who cannot travel to Lyon to attend remotely.
Some of the subjects to be addressed therein will be as follows:
- Arrangements for the CGI’s annual meeting in Nairobi (July 2022); and for 2nd. All Africa Assembly, gathering national presidents from across Africa where the SSVP is present (scheduled for July 2022);
- The official inauguration of the new headquarters of the Council General International (April 2022).
Furthermore, Board members are visiting Antoine Frédéric Ozanam’s Lyon, hosted by local members; then followed by a trip to the ‘commune’ of Pau to pray at the tomb of Félix Clavé, co-founder of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, whose themed year was commemorated in 2020.
Moreover, the President General, along with other members of the Council General, have two other visits scheduled for December 3rd: the first one with the Archbishop of Lyon and Primate of the Gauls, Most Rev. His Grace Olivier Jacques Marie de Germay de Cirfontaine; and the second with the Company of the Daughters of Charity in Lyon.
We kindly ask you to pray for a smooth running of the CGI meeting, and a good implementation of the actions to be undertaken by the CGI in its zeal to pursue St. Vincent’s charism and to accomplish the SSVP’s mission worldwide.
The President General stated: “It will be a great joy to see again our brothers and sisters who, despite the pandemic, have strived to move forward and keep on working with our projects and initiatives”.
