Special Visit of the Zone 1 Coordinator (West Africa) to the SSVP of Togo

Visit confirmed regularity of SSVP Activities in the country

With the aim of learning about the current status of SSVP work in Togo, the CGI made a special visit to this West African country through the Africa 3  Zone 1 Coordinator Marcel Tondé. The visit took place from January 19th to 26th, 2026.

The Zone Coordinator visited SSVP conferences in six locations in the country: Avetonou, Kpalimé, Kara, Bassar, Notsé, and the capital, Lomé. During these visits, the Zone Coordinator observed that the SSVP conferences have been carrying out their activities regularly. Currently, there are 10 SSVP conferences in Togo in the preparation stage for their founding.

In all the locations visited, the Zone Coordinator maintained contact with the parish priests who support the work of each SSVP conference. A meeting was also held with the coordination of Catholic Works of the Archdiocese of Lomé to acknowledge the current stage of recognition of the SSVP National Council.

At the end of the visit program, the Zone Coordinator met separately with the board of the National Council. The visitor confirmed the regularity of the last electoral process and verified that the coordination activities of the SSVP’s work are being carried out regularly. This meeting also discussed opportunities and needs to strengthen the work of the SSVP in the country.
