Audience of Cardinal Marcello Semeraro with the CGI on Ozanam’s Canonization Cause

His Eminence Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, informed the CGI about the canonization cause of Frédéric Ozanam. The Cardinal, accompanied by Monsignor Giampaolo Rizzotti, Head of the Secretary’s Office “Studium,” after recalling the great Christian virtues of the Blessed, shared the canonical report of the cause, from which it appears that the process of sanctification remains open but has slowed down.
In discussing the different strategies to be adopted, the Cardinal encouraged us to submit a request for the revision of the first miracle, provided that the doctors involved are experts in this type of case. He also suggested that we may present a second miracle at the same time.
At the end of the meeting, the CGI, who attended the hearing with Paulo Cavaleri, the Chief Executive Officer, presented the Cardinal with the SSVP Martyrology, containing the records of 103 members from Conferences around the world who are now venerated at the altars. This martyrology, available on our website in Portuguese and Italian, was written by our Brazilian brother Gesiel Junior, to whom we are always grateful for his dedication. The Cardinal warmly appreciated this document as a valuable source for a lecture he was preparing.
That same day, the CGI, accompanied by the Chief Executive Officer, held an official luncheon with Mr. Marcel Escure, Minister Counsellor of the French Embassy to the Holy See, who offered all the Embassy’s resources to the SSVP to support the canonization cause and to promote the life and work of Frédéric Ozanam, as well as to organize events or visits with ecclesiastical authorities.
