Activities of the President General in Rome

On 14th February 2018, the 16th President General of the SSVP, brother Renato Lima de Oliveira, starts a new visit to the city of Rome, Italy.
In the morning, he will participate in the Wednesday Public Audience, at the Vatican, with His Holiness Pope Francis, and there he will give him a report on the activities of the SSVP in Africa, as well as information about the journey that Renato will make, God willing, to seven African countries from 22nd February to 14th March.
In the afternoon, our fellow member Renato will have a meeting with father Giuseppe Guerra, CM (Postulator General for the Frederic Ozanam’s cause of canonization), accompanied by brother Antonio Gianfico (Administrator of the Cause and President of the SSVP in Italy) and brother Sebastián Gramajo (legal advisor of the CGI and 3rd Vice-President), to examine the next steps of the process.
The next day (February 15th), the President will meet the Prefect of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life, Cardinal Joseph Farrell, since the SSVP is included in the list of international institutions already having an ecclesial recognition.
In the afternoon, the President will meet Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, prefect of the Congregation of Eastern Churches, to analyse the challenging work that the SSVP is performing in the East.
Contacts with the new leaders of the Dicastery for the Promotion of Integral Human Development (Vatican’s body set up by Pope Francis to replace the former Pontifical Council “Cor Unum”) are also scheduled.
Let us pray so that this busy institutional agenda scheduled for our President Renato Lima in Rome could be very fruitful for the future of the SSVP, always in favour of the ones most in need and the people assisted by our conferences and special works.
After finishing his visit in Rome, the President will attend the Board meeting of the General Council, in Paris, and next he will begin the institutional and missionary journey to Africa.
