Dear Vincentians,
Council General International of the Society is sollicitating your urgent help to assist a member of the Society in Nicaragua, Mr. Federico Melina, President of the Virgen de los Remedios Conference in Quezalguaque. This member’s brother is sick and at risk of death, he urgently needs a kidney transplant...
Their sister is a possible donor. The Society of St Vincent de Paul in Medellín, Colombia, has found, together with St Vincent de Paul Hospital, a solution to have the surgery done.
The cost of the surgery and post-operative rehabilitation is around US $ 15,000, to which we need to had transportation costs from Nicaragua to Colombia. Our brother’s family cannot afford to pay for this, nor do the Society in Nicaragua or Colombia can cover the costs.
The rules and habits of Council General and Technical Commission do not make it possible to use Council General’s funds to assist in a personal case. For this reason, we are asking all of you, Councils, Conferences and Vincentians of the world to ask for your kind generosity and help cover the surgery, his unique chance of living.
