![]() Dear friends,
For the third consecutive year, for the Vincentian Family systemic change initiative an American foundation is once more offering a grant for 2010 to fund projects aimed at breaking the circle of poverty. The grant has been increased exceptionally to 150,000$. The total sum will probably be shared among several projects.
Criteria for Giving the Start-Up Grants:
The chosen projects will:
– Involve the poor themselves at the various stages of the project, particularly emphasising self-sufficiency and the self-supporting nature of the project
– Have a global view of a number of basic human needs, spiritual, personal, social and physical, especially employment, healthcare, housing, education and spiritual growth.
– Promote transparency, inviting participation in preparation of budgets and commenting on financial statements, while encouraging good financial management and careful control over the use of assets
– Build a shared vision with the various stakeholders: poor communities, interested parties, donors, churches, governments, NGOs, the private sector, unions, media, international organisations and networks
– Ideally involve several branches of the Vincentian Family
Grants will not be distributed for:
– Projects whose aim is the immediate relief of poverty
– Construction, extension or renovation of buildings
– Imprecise projects, which do not give enough details on the group of people to be assisted
– Covering on-going costs for projects already underway
– Projects that do not comply with the format for responses suggested by the Vincentian Family Commission
You will find more information and eligibility criteria in the following document.
